The beautifully romantic story of elopement, inspired this team to create a dramatic story entirely different from the usual.
With a heavy nod towards the drama and mood of the Victorian era including a mix of simple elegant and luxurious fine details to the heavy use of decadent dried foliage displays. All with a heavy inspiration of William Morris’ theatrical home décor work who was once quoted as saying ‘There is no excuse for doing anything which is not strikingly beautiful’.
Wedding Theme and Style
Our one line for describing this shoot would be 'Botanical Bohemia meets Victoriana Luxury'.
An eclectic and dramatic mix of decedent detailing with a colour palette that echos the Victorian adoration for opulence and deep earthy hues and metallics. Contrasted against the soft relaxed feel of the bohemian bridal and groomsmen look with an edge of quirk. Any couple looking to be inspired on how to create atmosphere and a bit of drama through how they style their special day will for sure find this editorial content of great motivation to do their day their way!
The strong yet simple colour palette of olive greens, plums and mustard hues are offset by the beautifully simple yet detailed outfits for the couple. The cinematic storytelling and intentional use of shadow and muted, deep coloured palette creates a dramatic atmosphere to showcase the beautiful objects and enables focus on their intense luxury.
As guests would arrive at the 18th Century Potting Shed they would are greeted by a quirky vintage easel that housed the handmade pyrography welcome sign, draped in dried greenery garlands and bleached palms to give guests a hint of what is to come with the venue décor inside.
Tablescape
The place setting was shaped with wooden charger plates and set off with the metallic gold cutlery, echoing the bespoke table number brass frames and the mustard tinted cut glass glassware. Finally the table was completed with hand made corresponding menu and place name cards for each guest, featuring dried eucalyptus leaves and gold wax seals.

Wedding Cake
The wedding cake continued the theatrical boho theme, featuring a heavy macramé fringing, elegantly and dramatically draping towards the floor. The platted cord framed the angular tiered cake structure, which was covered with a lavish metallic coating designed to catch the eye. Again, a detailing of striking dried flowers and structured palms completed the look.

The Bridal Look
The bride is wearing a bespoke peasant sleeved silk chiffon gown that oozes elegance and romance. Her hair and makeup accentuates the alluring amorousness of the look, further complemented by a collection of handmade and ethically sourced jewellery pieces. The handmade floral headband of earthy hues that creates that additional drama and uniquely fashion forward bridal look that you just don’t want to stop starring at.

The second bridal look showcases when the newly married couple enter the gardens for their first moments as man and wife. A full length veil and halo of dried florals and foliage adorn the wide brim on her fedora hat, instantly creating a second stunning bridal look in a simple and stylish way.

The Groom
The grooms classic look has an edge of quirk and individualism with his dicky bow tie and accompanying braces showing off his personality. Finished off with a set of Fairtrade silver rutile quartz handmade cufflinks, and white gold wedding band. ?
The Wedding Venue
The whole editorial shoot was set in the enchanting 16th century Midelney Manor, hidden in the heart of the Somerset Levels and surrounded by 400 acres of farm and woodland. With magical walled gardens, flower beds and orchard trees surrounding the imposing barn with old stonework and ancient beams seemed like the inspiration for Lewis Carroll's imagination and perfect for holding a magical wedding ceremony.
?The shoot tells the story of a couple that have disappeared to elope, the Bride to be found this enchanting place in the heart of Somerset to share their vows and marry one another, with only a couple of guests to witness their marriage. The Groom receives an invite the night before from his beloved, it simply tells him when and where to be and that his Bride will be waiting.
Decadent Wedding Florals
With the resurgence of dried florals and foliage across the floral wedding scene, they have been featured heavily in a relaxed and bountiful way with the theme running right through the entire styling of the wedding. From the luxurious wedding invites with their hand decorated floral artwork, vellum wrap and wax seals through to the decadent floral table scape centre pieces. All of which feature Avalanche Peach Roses, Chrysanthemum Paladov Dark, Jana Spray Roses with bleached palms and pampas grass adding structure and depth.

The Wedding Details
With my love for florals, the stand out elements for me are firstly, the dried botanical theme running through the whole shoot. From the dramatic macrame backdrop with draping dried eucalyptus, palms and pampas grass, to the sumptuous guest tablescape centre pieces, to the bridal crown and bouquet and groomsmen buttonholes, through to the wedding cake and the wedding stationery. I feel this golden thread of styling pulls the whole shoot together into a cohesive piece of theatrical artwork. Something which prospective bride and grooms can get inspired and excited by to implement themselves through their own wedding day styling.
The second element of the shoot that I am in LOVE with is the dark and dramatic photography style used throughout the shoot came from our desire to create a cinematic feel. The most important aspect of storytelling is the ability to make the viewer want to see more, showing just enough to make them eager to see what else is coming. With careful use of light, we bring characters and objects into focus whilst details remain in the shadows, just visible enough to create curiosity about what part of the story comes next. Our intentional framing of the scenes is taken straight from the movies: the ultimate medium for telling stories of love and passion.
