Welcome to The Boho Bride Guide.

Dried Florals, Macrame & 2 Bohemian Souls In Love

Welcome boho wedding lover. This month on The Boho Bride Guide Blog we are so excited to share with you the sensationally beautiful REAL wedding of Sophie & Taylor. We just adore every single image and loved reading what the bride & groom had to say about their special day, we know you are going to love it too... so enjoy!

Wedding Day Styling Inspiration:

Sophie told us that she is very sure of what she loves creatively and so 'chucking a wedding together' actually proved pretty simple for her. Sophie runs her own macrame business and says she has always wanted to step into the wedding industry. So their special day was the perfect opportunity to launch her wedding rental collection and we think she is absolutely going to smash it!
The couple treated the day like the most boujee party they would ever plan and wanted to keep guests feeling relaxed without having to play fancy dress.

Sophie knew she wanted her wedding flowers to be incredible but not wasteful, so they went for dried florals as they can be kept for years.

The colour palette was a mixture of metallic to make it pop, 'pinks of Marrakech', 'terracotta of a desert landscape' and neutrals to balance.

There were western and 70s influences as with much of Sophie's fashion choices – the hat, cowboy inspired boots, the macramé.

Also Sophie's wedding dress played a huge part too, in bringing it all together. Rue De Seine’s lace work, attention to detail, modern and daring cuts worked perfectly together.

The Love Story:

The newlyweds met at a local cider festival. Sophie's cousin and her partner set them up. There were nerves when they saw each other, but they were pleasantly surprised by what they saw given how set-ups are usually bound for disaster. One week later Taylor messaged Sophie inviting her round for a movie night and, as they say, the rest is history.

The couple have been together for 5 and a half years. Sophie told us that during Taylor's speech on the wedding day, he calculated the exact years/months/weeks/days to that very moment that we had been together. Tears were most definitely had! How romantic!

Wedding Details:

Sophie & Taylor married on Friday 27th August 2021 at the beautiful Eden Barn, a place very close to their hearts. The wedding took place over a bank holiday weekend so the bride & groom got to spend a long weekend with family and friends celebrating and really enjoy the area.

Sophie describes her special day as "'Bohemian', 'authentic' and 'us' – because it really was us down to a T, no pretence"

Their wedding was done but undone, perfect and imperfect. Carefully planned and also chucked together. Just how the couple like to do life in general! We love it!

The Rustic Barn Wedding Venue:

When it came to choosing the venue, there’s so much information to take in and things to consider. It can be a pretty overwhelming process, the couple explains that they really didn’t know exactly what they wanted – until they spoke to Andrea at Eden Barn and they instantly fell in love.

The venue think of everything and prioritise you, having your own space and time to relax and take it all in. That single detail itself was enough to sell Sophie on them!

Rustic Wedding Food:

The couple absolutely LOVE food and are firm believers that food has the power to bring people together in such an authentic way.

Sophie & Taylor opted for a super casual, relaxed day and that was reflected in the food too – yummy feasting boards!

Southcott’s Food is incredible and the sharing boards and sides they supplied for this wedding did not disappoint the bride & groom or the guests. A variety of Cumbrian meats, mac n cheese, roasted spuds with rosemary and salads. Yum!

It was also a great way to get all wedding guests along the trestle tables and mingle with other guests that they didn’t know and share food. Sophie explains that when she sat and looked around, everyone really was on cloud nine, and it was the best feeling ever!

Rustic Wedding Cake:

The gorgeous rustic boho wedding cake was made by Louise, one of Sophie's best friends and bridesmaids. Lousie moved to LA after school in the UK and for a short time worked in a bakery out there making wedding cakes, she put an incredible amount of care and attention into creating the couple's dream cake in the few days she was here before the day itself (battling jet lag in the process, too!).

Wedding Favours:

The couple decided that their wedding favours would be a free drink for everyone. After the absolute feast that was served for dinner, they figured a free drink was the best way to go and to help get the pay started!

Dried Bohemian Wedding Florals:

Sophie admits that she is a bit of a creative control freak, so there is very few people in the world that she would trust to go ahead and plan a massive part of her day without her having any input – and Katie from Forage and Foliage  is one of those people.

She wanted a neutral colour palette for the flowers as the bridal party were all wearing whatever they wanted and the colour palette for the day was very mixed anyway. Katie did the rest herself and absolutely blew Sophie (and us) away. The flowers are just stunning!

Sophie didn't choose a single type of flower, she said Katie is her ride-or-die and creative soul-sister.

Event Hire & Styling:

Sophie made the decor herself! For her 70's bohemian influence she couldn't not have some of her fabulous macrame to style her wedding venue.
Sophie also brought along all the scatter rugs to be layered down the aisle.
Now the day is done, Sophie now has an ever-expanding collection of bits to rent out for other brides to enjoy, too. Perfect for her new wedding business Sophie Knots

The Bridal Look, Hair & MUA:

The hair and makeup team were absolute troopers for Sophie on her big day!

Sophie told us of how Georgia her MUA arrived at the crack of dawn to begin makeup and ended up finishing quite early, so got to ironing/steaming her dress for the next few hours.

"Honestly – she was a life saver as we started to lose time pretty quickly towards the end of the morning!"

Emma, took care of Sophie's hair but wasn’t feeling well at all, yet she powered on through with the help of her lovely mum. She’s a hair genius!

Bridal Accessories:

Sophie's accessories were flowers, flowers and more flowers. Oh and a fabulous wide brim hat...naturally, in true Sophie style.

Groom & Groomsmen Attire:

For the guys, the couple loved the idea of them all matching but having Taylor stand out. The lads wore forest green suits with a grandad collar shirt in a natural linen colour. And Taylor’s suit itself was a natural linen – so they tied together nicely. They kept the groom look casual and comfortable with open collars, no bow or tie.

To match the super simplistic look, Katie made up some buttonholes with dried spear palms. Love love love this modern, bohemian look they gave off whilst still featuring small flowers from the bridal bouquet to tie in with the bridesmaids.

The Bridesmaids:

Whilst the guys went simplistic, Sophie's bridesmaids went all out with flowers everywhere and mismatched dresses in a warm colour palette to contrast with the lads. We just love the whole mismatch bridesmaid vibe and think the whole look is truly beautiful!

Wedding Photography:

We are the Chamberlins are a husband and wife photography duo who captured Sophie & Taylor's wedding day perfectly.

Sophie could not praise them enough, saying "I simply don’t have the time to tell you how amazing Will and Celle are."

Will and Celle even joined the couple for food at Brownber Hall (their weekend accommodation) pre-wedding to just hang out! How lovely to come away from your wedding day with two new friends!

We asked the bride & groom what was some of their favourite parts of their wedding day?
Sophie:
"It’s so hard to pin point singular moments – especially when there’s tiny details you forget even happened in the whole blur of excitement. But if I can pin point a feeling – pure love for my girls. For my husband too, of course, that’s a given. But I think the whole wedding process made me realise I have 4 more loves of my life.

When we were ready to walk into the barn to begin the ceremony, they started leaving one by one and I felt this unexpected feeling of being left behind, almost, it was a strange feeling – I just wanted them glued to me all day!"

Taylor:
"For me, it was when I heard the beginning of the Springsteen song, Sophie was walking down the aisle to come on, I think my heart actually stopped.

Also, after the ceremony when we were walking outside up to the gazebo in the field as husband and wife, and we got to just stand and turn around and watch all our guests slowly head up the field towards us as we waited for our confetti shot - I loved that."
We hope you enjoyed reading Sophie and Taylor's relaxed, authentic and bohemian inspired wedding, as much as we did featuring it! Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
